Obama’s Gonna Take Away My Second Admendment Rights!

In Are you kidding me?, Election 2008, Politics, War in Iraq on April 9, 2008 at 8:40 am

Ummm.. No he isn’t. Living in Texas, I have to hear crap like this all the time and not just about Sen. Obama but also about Sen. Clinton.

This posting today is in response to a comment that was left on my previous post but I need to address it because I had to endure comments like this at the senate convention and occasionally when people try to put their “knowledge” in about which candidate will really being screwing society. I’ll be putting my own two cents in (because I’m a blogger and I can!) at the end of this post so be sure to read through.

First of all:

The comment posted was:

“Obama isn’t telling how he stands on issues, such as he is for the banning of guns. Obama will not be able to be wishy washy in the general election. The American people have a right to know where he stands on issues! Hunters should be flopping to Hillary Clinton now and to McCain later!”

Okay, first of all, as I put in my response, whether you vote Obama or Hillary, just be sure you vote for either!

PROTECTING GUN RIGHTS
Respect the Second Amendment: Millions of hunters own and use guns each year. Millions more participate
in a variety of shooting sports such as sporting clays, skeet, target and trap shooting that may not necessarily involve hunting. As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates an individual right, and he greatly respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting. He also believes that the right is subject to reasonable and commonsense regulation.

Secondly, I almost wanted to reach over and strangle the man sitting close by me at the convention when he said if Hillary didn’t win, he was voting for McCain. Are you kidding? He said that Obama is going to get rid of all of our nuclear weapons and that Russia will just be waiting to wipe us off the planet. I have no idea where he pulled this little tidbit from because I have never heard like this. As usual, he may have only heard a blip of something Sen. Obama has said or something that was taken out of context, but here is Obama’s stand on the issues of nuclear weapons and foreign policy. I must be blind because I don’t see where his plan is to get rid of our nuclear weapons. Keep in mind, when this man at the convention made his declaration for Hillary and then McCain, it was before Sen. Obama’s recent statement,

I think it would be a profound mistake for us to use nuclear weapons in any circumstance” in Afghanistan or Pakistan, Obama said. He then added that he would not use such weapons in situations “involving civilians.”

“Let me scratch that,” he said. “There’s been no discussion of nuclear weapons. That’s not on the table.”

Now I’m not sure if this was taken out of context or exactly how it was meant, but I know that he did make a statement about not using nuclear weapons against Osama bin Laden. Why would you anyway? All it would take to get rid of bin Laden is to actually FIND HIM, maybe include a grenade, mortar round, and throw in a few shots from an M-16. But go nuclear? Good grief. If a top advisor on foreign policy has endorsed Sen. Obama, than that’s good enough for me.

I’m so blasted disgusted with hearing people who call themselves Democrats making statements such as “If ‘so an so candidate’ doesn’t win, I’m voting for McCain!” MCCAIN? Seriously people, that is not a statement you should be proud to make if you are truly are a democrat. Just sit back and think about.

You may not like certain things Clinton says or certain things Obama states, or whether or not you “think” you know how they stand on issues that liberals believe in. BUT and I stress a big BUT here, who would McCain appoint to the Supreme Court? How much longer is your husband, son, brother, loved one or even your children (AS THEY GROW OLDER ) going to be in Iraq or Afghanistan? We are only in 2008 and my husband has been slated for a 2010 deployment.

Yes…reality is that the military IS planning that far ahead. Before you think of going red and leaving your blue morals at home, what are the long term effects? I’m stressing longer term in the case of a president coming and going but members of the Supreme Court AND their decisions hanging around. On one hand McCain says that he doesn’t believe that a woman’s right to choose should be a judicial issue but then he goes on to state that the Pro-Life movement has made tremendous strides and that adoption might be a better path. Furthermore, he even has the statement, “At its core, abortion is a human tragedy. To effect meaningful change, we must engage the debate at a human level.” right on his website! Before you get into a tiffy, see what he has to say about the issues directly from his website.

Is this a choice for Democrats? NO.

Shame on any “democrat” that says he/she won’t support the candidate that they didn’t vote for in the primaries.

Whether it’s Sen. Clinton or Sen. Obama on our ticket this November, I’ll be there in my BLUE shirt, BLUE jeans, and BLUE vote.

There’s my two cents. 🙂

  1. You sir are just another clueless deer in the headlights of the Obama craze. Look back at what these ignorant socialist liberal democrats have voted for in the past. They have not a clue about what a democracy is all about. The do not work “For the people”, instead they plan on controlling the people. How can this country go back to what it was when people were proud to be Americans, when the left wing SOBs are trying to take away our Constitional rights little by little. Mark my words!!! they may not come to your door and take your guns, take your money, tell you where to work and how to live. But they will manipulte the system until its too expensive to own your guns! They will make your money worthless! They will control where you work if there are only certain jobs left in the USA! Then they will be in control of how you live! To all of you ppl thinking it wont happen, get your history books out! Look around! Obama is an elitist and he and others like him want much more from you than your vote!

  2. Thank you Patrick for your comment. Truly. I can tell that you either a) do not live in the United States; b) do not understand Obama’s stance on such an issue; c) think that we are still voting for him–i.e. your last comment–; d) are ignorant in American politics, American democracy, American history, and/or the term of an elitist; or e) all of the above. Not to mention you think that because this is a blog that includes the topic of politics that the person behind the keyboard is a male, even though I stated that my husband will be deploying. You sir, are the one that is incorrect.

It’s comments like yours that I value because it shows how many people exhibit a lack of detail and attention when reading an article; they are much too excited to leave their piece of mind. You obviously didn’t read the entire post that I did, but this comment section gives you a platform to speak your mind regardless if you actually wanted to make a point or just go on a tirade. Freedom of Speech is wonderful HERE in the U.S. huh?

As for your “How can this country go back to what it was when people were proud to be Americans, when the left wing SOBs are trying to take away our Constitional rights little by little. To all of you ppl thinking it wont happen, get your history books out!” comments:

God bless you! Through your misspellings I can understand that you are very bitter about the new President, but maybe you should go back and read your own history books. Party title names have changed numerous times since their introduction with John Adams and I would like to hear your clarification about the “social liberal democrats” and exactly what they have done to this country. While “Social liberal democrats” are two separate terms more familiar with British politics (in fact, the merger of Liberal Party and Social Democratic Party is now officially called Liberal Democrats) this a fairly modern term in America. Which past social liberal democrats come to mind? That’s just it–you can’t name any.

You are obviously a fan of the NRA, but adhered to their misstatements about Obama making gun control too expensive in the near future. This was evident people ran for their nearest gun store as soon as Obama won the presidency. Sales reached an all time high because people were afraid that either guns or bullets would become too expensive or that their right were going to be taken away. Such ignorance. See http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_obama_promise_last_year_to_ban.html and http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/the_rifle_associations_true_story.html if you don’t want to take my word for it.

President Obama as an elitist: think about this in a general sense and definition of an elitist. Merriam-Webster’s definition do an elitist is:
1: leadership or rule by an elite
2: the selectivity of the elite ; especially : snobbery
3: consciousness of being or belonging to an elite

Any politician that runs for president is in fact some sort of an elitist. We don’t want some dope off the street like you or I with that much power (I could put George W. Bush here, but I won’t). These politicians have clawed their way to the front of all others in order to make their way to the top, spending tons of money all along the way.

But because other candidates during the 2008 campaigned painted Obama as an elitist, others immediately jumped on board and pointed their fingers too.

I am amused about this notion of Obama as an elitist, given the fact that he was raised by a single mom, on food stamps for a while while growing up, and went to school on scholarship. Additionally, neither his or his wife Michelle’s parents attended college, and both he and his wife financed their educations with student loans. He does not own several expensive houses or cars, but lived (I say that because now he’s in the White House of course) modestly on the fruits of he and Michelle’s own hard work and successes. Nothing was handed down to him through inheritances.

As for those in the 2008 campaign that continued to lay this title upon Obama, I saw the name calling as nothing more than calling the kettle black. When Clinton was on the board of Wal-Mart and McCain was getting reprimanded for his role in the Keating 5 scandal, Barack Obama was a civil rights lawyer in Chicago. Make all the community organizer jokes you want, bottom line is that you call Obama an elitist because he is just plain smarter than you and I and knew how to turn such a modest life into one of prosperity that paved his way to Pennsylvania Avenue.

Thanks again for your comment. I love America, democracy and a college education. 🙂
