Palm Sunday and take in a movie

In Fun Stuff on March 30, 2007 at 1:33 pm

First of all, the dates on these posts are now fixed. The previous two posts were listed as being a day ahead. I’m learning…ok?

It is officially Friday!!!

Breathtaking scenes from 300If you are one of the few that are still living in a cave, get out and about to see the movie 300. Although it is not historically acurate, it is visually captivating and amazingly directed. If possible, see it on an IMAX screen near you. If you wait to see it on DVD you will be missing out! This movie could have easily been overdone by making it a 3 hour epic film (geez, remember Troy?) but it is right under 2 hours and I promise that you won’t want to get out of your seat! (Oh and for us ladies, HOLY ABS!) By the way, if you have young children, DO NOT take them to this movie. A little too on the graphic side.

Also, don’t forget that it is Palm Sunday! So, go to church and then go to the movies!

President “The Unknown Comic” Bush and MC Karl Rove

In Politics on March 30, 2007 at 12:16 pm

Goofy BushBefore I could even have my first cup of coffee this morning, I was subjected to watching President Bush’s stand up comedy act and Karl Rove doing his best K-Fed impersonation.

Last night our esteemed President gave the public a little taste of his career aspirations for the future. Prez Bush made a crowd at the Anuual Radio and Television Correspondents’ dinner in Washington D.C. roar with laughter and applause as he poked fun at himself, his presidency, and partner-in-crime V.P. Cheney. Little is to be said about how much the crowd already had to drink. See for yourself. He made humor of the woes he has had to face this past year and that he is even thinking of following former President Clinton’s lead by writing a memoir; although his will be in pop-up-book style. He even went on to compare Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to his own mother.

As if this weren’t enough, the audience got to enjoy the talents of MC Karl Rove and his Senior Spinners.  Sheesh.

All I can say is that Bush isn’t the only one counting down his days in the White House.

College Student in a Heap of Trouble

This past weekend my son sent me a link about a friend of his that is in a bunch of trouble for posting some peace rally photos on her Facebook page. Rachael Palinkas, a student at Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon posted photos of a burning U.S. flag and what looks like an American soldier in BDUs. Ms. Palinkas is an aspiring journalist and even writes for the college on their webpage. This poor girl even made onto The Drudge Report. From what I understand, she couldn’t believe that Americans were burning flags and acting in this manner. This is the reason why she did the posting. Call me crazy but I praise her for reminding the rest of us that there still is a war going on and our own neighbors are reacting this way. I think too many of us have become numb to the fact that we have lost over 3200 men and women since this war began. Read the story and decide for yourself.
